Purchaser
The purchasing function at Solomon Coatings Ltd. contributes to the success of our organization by providing efficient purchasing requirements needed for production are available and ready for use. This position provides exceptional customer service to internal customers while working effectively with vendors to ensure cost effectiveness.
Major areas of responsibility include (but are not limited to):
- Generating purchase requisitions and orders for all goods and services required for daily production and specific job orders.
- Researches vendor options for better products and costs.
- Negotiates pricing.
- Creates and maintains supplier database including vendor pricing and part numbers.
- Coordinates with vendors, or attends, for pick up or delivery of supplies.
- In responsible for inventory control, and supervision of the tool crib functions.
- Continuously develops process improvements to ensure efficiency and decrease turnaround times and costs.
- Demonstrates safety commitment to own position and Solomon Coatings as a whole.
We are looking for candidates who have completed (or are working towards completion) of a recognized purchasing certification. A minimum of two (2) years purchasing experiences is also required. Experience in an industrial production environment and familiarity with paint products is considered an asset.
Candidates should also possess the following skills and abilities:
- Exceptional customer service skill supporting both internal customers and external vendors/suppliers.
- Strong time management and organizational skills. Must be able to plan effectively to ensure product availability for production.
- Good communication skills, able to communicate in a clear and concise manner both written and verbally.
- Active listening skill - able to accurately determine customer needs - is proactive.
- Good working knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office Products, particularly Excel. Able to develop and maintain spreadsheets.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- You are self motivated - able to recognize inefficiencies and recommends and/or develops better processes.
- Some supervisory experience is a definite asset as this position will oversee the inventory (tool crib) functions.
- Valid drivers' license and clean driver's abstract required.
